News from Paignton Zoo Environmental Park
What better way to beat the credit crunch than by winning your next holiday?
Three lucky families have done just that after entering the Ultimate Animal Experience competition.
Three award winning Devon attractions, Living Coasts in Torquay, Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and Pennywell Farm & Wildlife Centre at Buckfastleigh launched the competition – “The Ultimate Animal Experience” - in February 2008.
First prize - a one-week family stay at the five star self-catering accommodation, Compton Pool Farm, Marldon, plus family tickets to all three attractions - was won by Clarissa and Nikita Hooper from Lincolnshire.
Second prize - a three-day family break including dinner, bed and breakfast at the four star Thurlstone Hotel, near Kingsbridge and Salcombe, plus family tickets to all three attractions – was won by Florence Bird, from Launceston in Cornwall. Florence said: "Entering the competition was fun and helped me learn a lot more about some of the animals. Winning the prize was a wonderful surprise."
Third prize was a weekend family break at the three-star Royal Castle Hotel, Dartmouth, with family tickets to all three attractions. The winners were Toby, Fiona and Oliver Murphy from Roborough, Plymouth.
Paignton Zoo Marketing Manager Vicki Barnes said: “The Ultimate Animal Experience was a great way to promote holidays in Devon. While the winners are from Lincolnshire, it is good that local people were runners-up, as it’s a chance for them to find out how great it is to take a local holiday and enjoy some of the things that are close to them.”
Chris Murray from Pennywell said: “Visitors needn’t take overseas trips to enjoy the ultimate animal experience as it’s all here in Devon. From the wild, wet, and airborne to domestic, fluffy and cuddly, all within a 12 mile radius. A real green dream!”
The three attractions are all part of the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS). Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is a registered charity. For more information go to www.paigntonzoo.org.uk or ring (01803) 697500.
