Summer may not officially begin until June, but with the warmer weather upon us and England beginning to bloom, the May Day Bank Holiday is the perfect time to get out and about. RHS Garden Rosemoor, in Great Torrington, Devon is bursting into glorious colour, and promises a great day out for all the family. What better time to visit!
May is a special time of year at Rosemoor, and the Bank Holiday is a great opportunity to take the whole family for an inspirational walk around the garden. Over 50,000 spring bulbs have been planted in the meadow areas throughout the garden, and have now developed into season-long sweeps of colour. Lady Anne’s Garden is the home of colourful rhododendrons, magnolias and cherries, while the woodland walks provide a wonderful selection of wildflowers and the Fruit and Vegetable Garden boasts abundant blossom from a wealth of fruit trees.
For all you Art & Craft lovers – don’t miss the Spring Craft Fair taking place from Saturday 2 - Monday 4 May (10am – 4pm). If you’re bored of the high street shops, and looking for something a little different to brighten up your home or garden, then what better way to give yourself a little treat!
Children of all ages can take part in our Spring Garden Trail. Have fun following the clues and take your completed trail to the shop before leaving to claim your prize. The whole family can have fun spotting plants, insects and sights around the garden!
May is also the time to get back outdoors and kick start your own gardening. Gain some inspiration from Rosemoor’s plantings, and visit the Plant Centre’s new ranges to rejuvenate your garden. Don’t forget you can also enjoy a delicious meal or a scrumptious cream tea at our Restaurant while you are here. All our fresh produce is sourced locally from either the Rosemoor Garden or from local farms.
