Sea Fest photo competition launched at Living Coasts 2009

Sea Fest, Torbay’s own celebration of the sea, is launching a photographic competition.

The free festival, which takes place on weekends during September, is inviting people to capture their relationship with the sea and seashore in a photograph.

Silvia Santoli, Sea Fest Project Officer said: “The competition has three categories – underwater, coast and heritage of the sea. It is open to everybody. Entries will be displayed on the Sea Fest website, www.seafesttorbay.org, where people will be able to vote for their favourite picture.”

Entries will also be on display at Living Coasts on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September, during the Sea Roots weekend, when the winners will be announced.

Silvia: “Sea Fest is the first event to celebrate the extraordinary marine heritage of Torbay. It will take place in four different locations along the coast to showcase Torbay and all of the unique maritime heritage that is so much a part of the life and vibrancy of this very special place.”

Sea Fest recently received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

All entries to the photographic competition must be received by Friday 11th September. Pictures can be posted to Living Coasts, Torquay Harbourside, Beacon Quay, Torquay, Devon TQ1 2BG.

All entries must include name, age and contact details including a phone number. For more information please contact Silvia Santoli at Living Coasts on 01803 202470 or email silvia.seafest@hotmail.co.uk

Photographers should get permission from any people appearing in photographs; pictures of children must include contact details for a parent or guardian so that organisers can check they have permission to display the picture. Full terms and conditions can be found at www.seafesttorbay.com.
