Competition Rules

All images should be submitted either online [ online submissions should be made to this email address: proudofdevon@devon.gov.uk ] or via mail and must state:

Name, age and contact details of the person taking the photograph must be clearly marked. If the entrant is under 16, the details must be counter signed by parent, carer or guardian.

Entries should be captioned explaining where the photograph was taken, and what is happening, if necessary. The location of the image must be marked: only images of Devon or taken within the Devon county boundaries will be accepted.
All online submissions should be under 1MB in size.

Entrants can submit as many images as they wish, provided they meet the competition criteria.

No image will be accepted that contains offensive, obscene or illegal content.
No material can be returned, so please do not send originals or negatives.
Entries will be selected at random for the online gallery [ select this link for the online gallery ]; DCC and DATA will endeavour to portray as many entries as possible throughout the competition.

Small Print!

By submitting your photograph/s you agree to grant Devon County Council (hereafter referred to as DCC) and Devon Association of Tourist Attractions ( hereafter referred to as DATA) a joint perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licensable right and licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your photograph/s worldwide and/or to incorporate your photograph/s in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in your photograph/s, and in accordance with privacy restrictions as defined by the Data Protection Act.

By submitting your photograph/s to devon.gov.uk, you:

  • warrant that your photograph/s is/are your own original work and that you have the right to make it/them available to DCC and DATA for all the purposes specified above; and does/do not infringe any law;
  • agree to indemnify DCC and DATA against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by DCC and DATA as a result of your breach of the above warranty;
  • agree to waive any moral rights in your photograph/s for the purposes of its/their submission to and publication on devon.gov.uk and lotstodo.co.uk and the purposes specified above.

Wherever used, we agree to credit your images to you.

This competition is open to anyone. The announcement of the winner is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The prize(s) must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives.

DCC and DATA do not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries due to the Internet. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.

No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.
DCC and DATA reserve the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

Where photos of people are submitted, you agree to having the consent of those people wherever possible and if applicable (i.e. members of the general public). If children are featured the consent of their parents/guardians is needed.

Prizes unclaimed after 28 days will be deemed to have been forfeited and DCC and DATA reserve the right to either offer the prize to the entrant whose name is next drawn at random, or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.

Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition. This includes entries made via email.

These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

This competition is administered by Devon County Council.

We reserve the right not to publish images that are submitted and to edit the comments that accompany the image. The site editor's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

We reserve the right to crop the images as we see fit.
