Head to RHS Garden Rosemoor for October Half Term

It’s a different type of creepy experience over half term.

Discover how clever creepy-crawlies and super-smart plants fight back with a week of fun family activities. This autumn half term at RHS Garden Rosemoor you can learn how plants and insects use fangs, stings, spines and slime to defend themselves and their habitats.

Meet all kinds of creatures with Exmoor Zoo, have a go at creepy crafts and get ready for Halloween with pumpkin painting and a spooktacular Halloween party.

Deadliest plants and bugs trail

Saturday 22 – Sunday 30 October
10am – 5pm, self-led trail

Learn how plants and insects use fangs, stings, spines and slime to defend themselves and their habitats.

Hunt through the garden following clues to discover the plant or bug with the Deadliest Statistics on our family trail.

Craft workshops

Monday 24 – Friday 28 October
Drop in 11am – 12.45pm and 2pm – 3.45pm, Garden Room

Make a whole variety of creepy creations, including grow your own monsters, pinecone spiders and pumpkin suncatchers. Try a different activity each day.

Pumpkin painting*

Drop in 11am – 12.45pm and 2pm – 3.45pm, Garden Room

Back by popular demand, paint a pumpkin and create a fabulous autumn scene or a spooky Halloween design.

*£2.50 per child – pay on the day.

Exmoor Zoo shows*

Monday 24 and Thursday 27 October
10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm

Explore the world of venomous creatures with Exmoor Zoo. Learn why plants and animals can be just plain horrid and how this helps them survive. From the deadly tomato to spider venom that can treat cancers, there is more to them than meets the eye.
