Torre Abbey is one of the region’s key cultural assets with a unique collection and a growing reputation for innovative exhibitions and community engagement.
The business will soon be engaging in an application for third major restoration project, to increase the structural integrity of the site and further develop commercial stability.
Listed as a scheduled ancient monument, the site includes two Grade 1 listed buildings and five Grade 2 listed buildings, extensively redeveloped during two previous restoration phases. Torre Abbey is truly unique place to work.
The role is similar to that of a traditional collections registrar, but with elements of business and administration.
Work will involve delivering Torre Abbey’s Collection Documentation Plan and overseeing the work of the team of Collections Documentation Volunteers. The role will also include the ongoing digitalisation of the collection onto our Collections Management System.
The post will be closely involved with the work of the Programming Team and particularly relevant to incoming exhibitions and the associated loan agreements.
Applicant should be able to evidence experience of collection care, documentation interpretation and research. Advanced organisational skills and an attention to detail are essential.
Working days are negotiable and are predominately weekdays. However, there may be occasions where evening and weekend working may be required.
