Digital Content and Admin Officer – Devon’s Top Attractions 

Part-Time, WFH,  Approx. 1 day per week

Reporting to: Marketing Manager and DATA Chair

Working and liaising closely with the Web Manager, Executive Board and DATA Members.

Overall Job Purpose

This is a new role which has been created to help shape and drive forward the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions web-based content and digital presence, ensuring the right tone, brand look, feel and messaging is adhered to, plus you will provide a wide range of efficient and timely admin and secretarial support to the team, producing high-quality digital content and website development to ensure high level SEO.

The role will fully support the DATA Marketing and Media strategy to ensure that the ethos and objectives of DATA are followed. You will be a key member of the Customer Support team helping build relationships with members. This new position will help DATA to move consistently with the times, focusing on digital communications, ensuring everything is relevant, up-to-date and that members continue to get value for money from their membership.

Reporting primarily to the Marketing Manager, you will be working within a small team across Marketing, Design and Production, providing Digital Content and Admin and Secretarial support to the Executive Board and DATA Members.

The role involves providing an essential support service to and liaising closely with the Executive Board and DATA Members.

Main duties

Administration and Secretarial duties will include:

  • Maintenance of DATA membership records, data-base and inspection reports, plus approval and distribution thereof;
  • Organising and co-ordinating regular Inspections and Mystery Shopper visits of DATA member sites;
  • Writing up (typing) of the Inspection reports, proof-reading and gaining appropriate final Board agreement and approval, plus issuing same under guidance and approval of the Marketing Manager;
  • DATA meetings minute taking, typing up of same, gaining agreement and approval with the Chair, and issuing same under guidance and approval of the Marketing Manager and DATA Directors as appropriate;
  • Artwork chasing, progressing through to final production after proof reading and gaining approval as appropriate.

Digital Content duties to include:

  • Creating, writing updating and maintaining high-quality DATA website content and wider digital presence, including Social Media and creating regular updates to ensure that content is up to date and engaging;
  • Ensuring all digital content is SEO optimised.
  • Developing content plans to ensure an excellent on-line user journey through the creation of good copy, and use of video and photography and re-purposing content for different target audiences;
  • Ensuring all copy is written and edited to our house style and exacting standards of accuracy;
  • Working alongside the Marketing Manager and our Web Manager to further develop the website, editing and creating webpages, plus developing and refining our digital presence;
  • Ensuring content adheres to appropriate policy and legal requirements, and that necessary checks always happen before publishing.

Other additional duties will be as required and which may include:

Skills and abilities

Excellent admin, IT, Microsoft and digital skills;

Significant experience and qualifications, ideally, in website design maintenance and SEO optimisation;

A proven passion for creating interesting content and playing a key role in delivering vibrant and engaging messages for the website and digital channels;

The ability to drive our on-line presence, increase awareness and referrals, plus greater understanding of our brand through engaging with target audiences in order to achieve objectives;

Having an engaging out-going and confident personality with strong inter-personal and communication skills and being able and willing to engage with all stake-holders and provide and excellent service to all parties.

Terms and Conditions of Employment

Part-time  – working from home, flexible approx. 1 day a week
Average 7.5 hours per week
Additional hours over 7.5 per week if required by DATA and agreed in advance
£11 – £13 per hour
Holiday entitlement 5.6 weeks
The work will be predominantly home based, but you will be required to attend meetings within Devon and exhibitions as needed.
