- Tram driving: subject to passing an initial assessment and medical, and then the driver training course, passed out drivers are required to carry out a minimum of 21 days driving per year. 21 days is the absolute bare minimum, and the company are ideally looking for volunteers who can exceed this. From a Company’s perspective, it is more beneficial to employ a volunteer who can offer one day a week throughout the whole season rather than several separate week stints. Driving shifts are normally between 5 & 6 hours long and vary throughout the season depending on the service frequency operated and will include both weekday and weekend work.
Applications for Tram Driving are CURRENTLY OPEN
The Initial Assessment & Driver Training Course: An initial assessment will be carried out to determine suitability of the applicant. Upon successful completion of this, the Driver training normally takes two weeks, with additional training and re-tests/assessments are done annually.
Driver commentary & public speaking is a very important part of the role of tram driver, so applicants need to be comfortable with this.
A short Personal Track Safety tutorial and exam will be included early on in the training.
