Fern Day - Guided Fern Talk and Plant Sales
On Sunday June 14th 2026 we are holding a special day to celebrate our Ferns and we invite visitors to view our National Collection of Hardy Ferns; Dryopteris and Polystichums. The day will showcase our ferns at their best with fern and plants in our courtyard and cream teas available in the cafe.
Guided Fern Walk with Fern Specialist Julian Reed
Join fern specialist Julian Reed for a fascinating guided walk through the beautiful Victorian Fern Garden at Canonteign Falls.
During this 45-minute walk, Julian will share the history of the fern garden and introduce visitors to our two Plant Heritage National Collections: Dryopteris and Polystichum ferns. Discover the remarkable variety of ferns growing throughout the garden and learn more about the conditions that help them thrive.
No previous knowledge or experience is necessary—just an interest in nature and gardens. Please note that a reasonable level of fitness is required, as the walk includes access to the upper fern areas via inclined paths. Walks scheduled at 10.30 am and 11.30 am. Day admission must be purchased unless your a Canonteign Falls member. Guided Fern Walk Tickets £6.
