Celebrate harvest time at Quince Honey Farm this October half term!

Autumn marks the end of the growing season, where annual crops are harvested for food and animal feed, an important date in the British farming calendar. Did you know that the word ‘harvest’ comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for autumn, ‘haerfest’?

Quince Honey Farm’s Apple and Honey Harvest embraces the old traditions of the autumn season, sharing the customs and old ways of the apple harvest. Come along to the Full Attraction and see our Apple Show, a live demonstration of an apple mill and apple press and learn about the traditions of the apple harvest.

Harvesting of our heather honey will also be underway in the Honey Factory where you can watch as this delicious honey is extracted from our honeybee hives, learn about the process, try some straight from the hive and maybe have a go at extracting it yourself!

As well as these special harvest demos, you’ll be able to enjoy all the usual daily tours and activities:
All About the Honeybee Talk – learn all about bees and beekeeping featuring fascinating video footage.
Beeswax & Candle Rolling – hear all about the amazing substance of beeswax and roll your on candle (additional charge of £2 pp for candles payable on the day).
Garden Tour & Seed Harvest – learn about our bee-friendly planting and select some seeds to take home ready to plant in your own gardens.
The History of Beekeeping – find out the history of the craft and create your own cave painting using local earth pigments.
Curious Creatures – meet our collection of critters!

Your ticket also allows access to all this:
EAT – at our award-winning Nectary Restaurant with autumnal specials, cakes and bakes.
EXPLORE – the Nectar Gardens. Children will enjoy the Buzzy Bee Bingo activity sheet available from the Shop.
PLAY –  in the Play Hive Indoor & Outdoor Play Areas, plus the new Bizzy Bee Garden Playground.
SHOP – browse our Gift Shop which is full of wonderful honey, beeswax candles and bee-autiful gifts!

While you’re here…
