The inimitable European voice of the Abbey organ will be demonstrated in this inaugural solo concert given by the new Assistant Master of the Music. Works by J. S. Bach and Charles-Marie Widor form the musical core of the programme, with the latter composer’s expansive Symphonie Gothique (dating from the very end of the nineteenth century) providing an ideal vehicle to celebrate the instrument’s French tonal influences.
