Exeter Chamber Choir presents a concert of serene and uplifting music spanning 400 years. The Requiem of Spanish priest and composer, Tomás Luis de Victoria, is widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest choral masterpieces of the Renaissance. Written for the funeral services of a Spanish empress, it still holds the power to move listeners through its mystical intensity and sheer beauty. The concert also includes music by Victoria’s High Renaissance contemporaries, Alonso Lobo and Felice Anerio, groups of motets by choral masters Anton Bruckner and Paul Mealor (including his Ubi Caritas written for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton), and contemporary music from award winning composer Kerensa Briggs as well as Exeter Chamber Choir’s Director, Andrew Daldorph, with The Lenten Spring.
