Jurassic Discovery Unveils Brand-New ‘Jurassic Garden’ | Devon's Top Attractions Devon's Top Attraction latest news

Jurassic Discovery, Seaton’s award-winning dinosaur attraction, is delighted to announce the opening of its newly expanded Jurassic Garden, just in time for the summer holidays!

The exciting new Jurassic Garden area adds a whole new dimension to the Jurassic Discovery experience, with features designed for families, young explorers, and educational groups. Visitors can now dig for ancient fossils in the fun, hands-on Fossil Dig area, some of which are like those famously discovered by Mary Anning over two hundred years ago in nearby Lyme Regis, explore the living Bamboo Maze, and discover an abundance of new and ancient plant life in the expanded outdoor space.

A highlight of the new development is the covered outdoor dig and education area – an inviting venue for talks, workshops, and school visits. The Jurassic Garden, opening on 26th July, is set to become a foundation for learning about Seaton’s rich natural history and habitats, both past and present, and aims to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards.

This milestone marks a year of ambitious development by operators Seaton Tramway, who purchased the Jurassic Discovery building at the start of 2024. Since then, Jurassic Discovery has rapidly become a family favourite, launching the dinosaur-themed soft play and café in March, followed by the spectacular Last Day of the Dinosaurs animatronic exhibition in July 2024.

The Jurassic Garden project has been made possible thanks to generous funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the ongoing ‘Discovering Seaton’s Jurassic Past and Present’ initiative, which awarded £88,600 to support educational and conservation work in the area.

As part of the project, an environmental study of the habitats around Jurassic Discovery and Seaton Tramway’s three-mile route will deepen understanding of the local wildlife and support conservation efforts for years to come. A full report will be produced soon in partnership with Devon Wildlife Trust.

Entry to the new Jurassic Garden is included with admission to the Last Day of the Dinosaurs exhibition, which brings the dramatic world of the Cretaceous period to life with state-of-the-art animatronics and interactive displays.

This summer, Jurassic Discovery will also be running daily Guided Tours of the Last Day of the Dinosaurs exhibition – perfect for families and budding palaeontologists. Find out more online at jurassicdiscovery.co.uk
