Things to do in Spring at The Donkey Sanctuary

Spring has sprung at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, making it the ideal free family day out this Easter.

Alongside the resident donkeys, The Donkey Sanctuary is also home to a host of native wildlife, and the new Easter Nature Trail gives visitors the opportunity to win an Easter Egg while discovering some of the animals that share the sanctuary.

The activity is perfect for families, and by following their trail sheet, they will be able to search for habitats located around the sanctuary and attach stickers to their sheets of the animals that live there.

Trail sheets cost £5 each, and on completing the trail, visitors can choose an Easter Egg or another prize.

Set in the East Devon countryside overlooking the sea the sanctuary is free to visit and park, and is dog friendly too. There’s a children’s play area, a maze, engaging exhibits and hundreds of adorable donkeys to meet.

With spring in full bloom, visitors can explore the sanctuary’s gardens as well as miles of scenic walks across the site.

The Gift Shop is full of donkey-inspired souvenirs, while the award-winning onsite restaurant, The Kitchen, offers a delicious selection of dishes using fresh, local seasonal produce, complete with unparalleled countryside and coastal views.

Easter Nature Trail runs from 1 – 21 April and the Spring Nature Trail runs from 22 April – 1 June.
