Powderham opens its doors for the 2026 season this Easter, with a jam-packed schedule to excite everyone! From Friday 3rd April,…
Powderham Castle in Kenton lies in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, just a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter.
The Castle was first opened to visitors in 1959, since then in excess of a million people have been through the doors to share in over 600 years of history and heritage and take away many fond memories. To this day, the castle is the family home of The Earl of Devon.
Very little of the Castle itself has changed since those early days but there are now many more attractions in the grounds including the Walled Garden, Belvedere Tower and American Garden. Dogs are most welcome within the castle, gardens and grounds and can visit for free!
Our guided castle tour unveils the majestic rooms and fascinating stories of the Courtenay family, adapted for an entertaining experience.
Venture outside to discover acres of delight, including the Walled Garden, American Woodland Garden and Belvedere Tower.
Every seasons, there’s a reason to visit.
