Summer Fun at Castle Drogo
There’s lots to keep your little ones entertained this summer from a trail around the garden, theatre on the lawn and craft activities.
Theatre on the lawn
On Thursday 30 August at 5pm there is a special performance of ‘The Railway Children’ on the croquet lawn. To book your tickets please call The Plough box office on 01805 624624 (Tickets £13 or £10 for Plough supporters, families, parent/s with children under 18years).
Crafty castle capers
Every Tuesday during the school holidays there are craft activities in the hut. (Starting on Tuesday 31 July and running until Tuesday 28 August, a small charge applies).
‘Changing Times’ trail
Every day from Saturday 14 July until Wednesday 5 September, 11am-4pm there is a trail around the garden and grounds. There are 9 grey boxes for children to find around the garden and they need to answer the question on the trail sheet by looking in the box. When they have finished there is a small prize for completing the trail. (£1, normal admission applies).
In the house
Around the house children can follow the Drogo Design Detective trail to solve the riddles, try on the dressing up clothes and answer the questions.
In the garden
You can have a game of tennis on the lawn or have a picnic in the orchard which is full of wild flowers.
Or you could run wild around Piddledown Common, it’s a great place for kite flying and tracking wild animals. On Wednesday 1 August, 2-4pm as part of the national day for play there will be Play Day, an afternoon of fun and games on the estate.
