Read MorePlanning a holiday or day trip can sometimes feel like a gamble, especially when money is tight. Will the attraction live up to its website? Will it be value for money? Luckily, visitors to Devon this summer don’t have to wonder. The county’s leading attractions are not only popular but also backed up by glowing reviews and this year’s annual inspections and mystery shops have shown a fantastic array of top scores. From award-winning beaches to family theme parks, Devon has proven itself a destination where quality is more than just a promise.
Devon’s Top Attraction reviewed their inspection process in 2023 and digitised the inspection visits using a checklist app. At the same time they raised the pass mark to 75% to ensure that all those who are part of the group reached these new high standards. Both the inspections and the mystery shops are carried out in the summer months where staff and facilities are stretched to see how they perform. In 2025 we are delighted to say we had some fantastic results – there were 4 attractions who scored a whopping 100% including RHS Rosemoor, Quince Honey Farm, Stuart Line Cruises and House of Marbles and virtually all scored 90% or higher. Whilst this is great news, these inspections also highlight any areas where a site may need to carry out some improvements or make some changes and when the reports go out in September it gives members time to carry out any additional work over the winter months. This means that no attraction ‘rests on its laurels’ but constantly strives to improve.
This year’s mystery shoppers all thoroughly enjoyed their visits and we had some great feedback:
World of Country Life: “An incredible attraction in Devon for all the family. With so much on offer all ages are entertained. Definitely a day out, there is so much to see and do, so many extra animal activities that the kids just love. The exhibits in the museum areas are incredible and so interesting. A truly wonderful attraction.”

Seaton Tramway: “We had a fanstastic day out and everyone loved the experience of travelling on the trams. The attraction is clearly investing in continuous improvement, nothing felt tired or worn out and there is some really interesting interpretation. The development of Seaton station is really impressive and a great welcome to a top quality attraction. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It was great that the trams ran so frequently so you don’t have to worry too much about timings on your visit”.

This consistent record of quality has once again shown why Devon is one of the UK’s most reliable destinations for day trips and family holidays. High visitor ratings, national awards, and long-standing recognition — from Blue Flag beaches to award-winning theme parks prove that Devon’s Top Attractions deliver on quality. Whether you’re looking for hands-on farm fun, adrenaline-filled adventures, or peaceful parks and gardens, the evidence is clear: Devon offers some of the very best days out in the UK, with the scores to back it up.
