Read MoreAfter a three-year wait, the final Devon’s Top Attractions Golden Ticket from the special Rowcroft Hospice Torbay & South Devon Monopoly edition has finally been discovered – much to the delight of lucky winner, Imogen Earp.
Imogen, from Devon, was given the exclusive South Devon Monopoly game as a special gift for her 18th birthday. However, the game lay unopened for 12 months while she was away at university. To her amazement, when she finally opened it, nestled inside was the coveted Golden Ticket – granting a whole year of free entry for up to four people at all of Devon’s Top Attractions, some of the most popular days out and visitor destinations across Devon.
“I was thrilled to find the Golden Ticket in my Monopoly game but had no idea it was in there,” said Imogen. “I’m looking forward to getting out and about with my family and revisiting some of my childhood favourite places in Devon. It’s such a wonderful prize, and I want to visit as many attractions as I can.”
The two Golden Tickets were hidden inside two of the boxes at the Hasbro Monopoly packing factory to help boost sales of this unique charity localised edition. The project created a real buzz across South Devon with many local attractions eagerly supporting. Each Monopoly game purchased helped raise vital funds for Rowcroft Hospice, which provides compassionate end-of-life care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses across Torbay, Teignbridge, the South Hams and surrounding areas.
Mark Hawkins, CEO of Rowcroft Hospice, said: “We’re really pleased that the missing and much sought-after final Golden Ticket has finally been found and that Imogen can now enjoy a year of free days. The Rowcroft Monopoly project provided us with a new and creative income stream for the hospice to support patients with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon, and we’re so grateful to everyone who supported it.”
The Rowcroft Hospice South Devon Monopoly special edition was launched in 2022 and features well-loved local landmarks and businesses. The charity project not only shone a spotlight on the unique character of South Devon but also raised much needed funds to help Rowcroft deliver its vital services.
Anne Blackham Marketing Manager for Devon’s Top Attractions said “From start to finish this has been a lovely project to be involved in and we are really pleased that the missing ticket has now been claimed.”
The South Devon & Torbay bespoke Monopoly was a unique twist on the original MONOPOLY. It was well supported by Devon’s Top Attraction and features nine of its members including Babbacombe Model Village, Kents Cavern, Becky Falls, Canonteign Falls, Blackpool Sands, Woodlands Family Theme park, Powdeham Castle, Pennywell Farm, Stuart Line Cruises and many more other local attractions, venues, landmarks and businesses
