Great British Summer Savings for Devon! | Devon's Top Attractions

Devon Families and Visitors Can Enjoy More for Less This Summer with participating Devon attractions supporting the Great British Summer Savings!

Summer holidays are all about making memories, but they can also put a strain on family budgets. That’s why the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative is designed to help families enjoy affordable days out, meals and entertainment throughout the school holidays.

Running from 25 June to 1 September 2026, the scheme introduces a temporary reduction in VAT from 20% to 5% on eligible family attractions, admission tickets and children’s meals, which participating businesses can then pass directly on to customers.

Great News for Families Visiting Devon

Devon is home to some of the South West’s most popular family attractions, and many are already taking part in the scheme. Many of Devon’s Top Attractions are participating in this scheme including:

Some of Devon’s Top Attractions are passing on the Government’s temporary VAT reduction by offering discounted admission tickets, while others are reducing the cost of children’s meals. As offers vary between attractions, please check individual attraction websites before you travel. You can also visit each attraction’s page on this website (look out for the British Summer Savings logo), or follow their social media channels for the latest details and offers.

Why are some of Devon’s Top Attractions not participating in the British Summer Savings?

Not every attraction is able to participate in the scheme. Many of our members already offer free admission, while others are VAT exempt, meaning they do not charge VAT on admission in the first place. As the Government’s British Summer Savings initiative is based on a temporary reduction in VAT, these attractions are unable to pass on a saving where no VAT is charged. However, they continue to offer fantastic value for money, with many providing free entry, great-value experiences or their own special offers throughout the summer holidays.

More Affordable  Devon Days Out

The Government expects attractions across the UK to pass on the savings wherever eligible. Whether you’re planning a visit to:

  • a zoo,
  • a museum,
  • a soft play centre,
  • a family attraction,
  • or the cinema,

Save on Children’s Meals Too!

The scheme doesn’t stop at attractions. Participating restaurants and cafes can reduce the cost of children’s meals served from dedicated children’s menus, making family lunches and dinners that little bit more affordable during the holidays. Many national restaurant chains have already announced they’ll be passing on the savings, alongside participating independent venues.

Top Tips to Maximise Your Savings

To make the most of the Great British Summer Savings in Devon:

  • Book tickets directly with participating attractions.
  • Check whether children’s meals are included before you visit.
  • Use free bus travel for eligible children during August if travelling within England.
  • Look out for additional seasonal offers that can be combined with the VAT savings where available.

A Summer That’s Easier on the Family Budget

With the cost of living still affecting many households, the Great British Summer Savings scheme aims to make family days out more affordable while supporting local attractions, restaurants and tourism businesses.

For Devon families and for holidaymakers staying here during the holidays, it provides a welcome opportunity to explore some of the county’s fantastic top attractions, enjoy meals out and create lasting memories—without spending quite as much.

Before travelling, it’s always worth checking whether your chosen attraction is participating and confirming the latest ticket prices to ensure you’re getting the full benefit of the scheme.
